Part 3 of our visit to the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway during their 1940s weekend. Featuring steam hauled top and tail services from Furnace Sidings down the gradient to Blaenavon (High Level) then starting the climb back to Furnace Sidings again and on to Whistle Stop Inn and back to Furnace Sidings.
Engines in service were
Mech.Navvies. Austerity Class 0-6-0 no.71515
Bagnall 0-4-0ST no19 (On loan from the Bodmin & Wenford Railway)
Both engines put on an impressive display as they charge their way up the gradient which can be as steep as 1 in 28 so I have been told.
All on board footage was captured on my old Sony DCR-SR57E Camcorder whilst lineside footage was captured on my new Panasonic HS60 HD Camcorder as I only had the one standard battery for the Panasonic which only lasts for 1 hour 45 minutes at best.
Enjoy
